Bacteriostatic water
Also known as 0.9% benzyl alcohol
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, a preservative that stops bacteria from growing.
Laboratories use it to reconstitute (dissolve) lyophilised peptides. The preservative means a vial can be accessed more than once, unlike plain sterile water.
